Community Access/Personal Assistance
Program Director
A South-Central Kentucky native, Antonio D. Herndon has been part of New Opportunities & Ways since its earliest days. As one of the organization’s first Person-Centered Coaches, he helped define what meaningful, individualized support truly looks like — not just services delivered, but lives changed.
Antonio is deeply mission-driven and wholeheartedly committed to people who have historically been marginalized. He believes every person deserves to be seen, valued, and recognized for their unique gifts. That belief isn’t theoretical for him — it guides every program he builds and every decision he makes.
Early in his leadership at NOW, Antonio identified an emerging service model designed to strengthen community involvement and elevate social role valorization. On his own initiative, he researched, structured, and launched the program. What began as vision became a state-recognized model, and he is now frequently invited to share the program’s design and success across Kentucky.
Antonio leads with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering voice for individuals who too often go unheard. His work is grounded in the conviction that support services should move beyond maintenance and toward belonging, purpose, and recognized community roles.
With a background in Public Health, Social and Behavioral Sciences, academic honors from the University of the Cumberlands School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, QPR certification in suicide prevention, and American Medical Technologists registration (MA), Antonio brings both professional expertise and genuine heart to his role.
At NOW, Antonio ensures Community Access and Personal Assistance services are not just structured — they are meaningful. Through his leadership, individuals are supported in discovering their value and building real opportunities — because here, lives truly take shape.
